La Crescenta, CA

This 1938 craftsman house is nestled on the hillside and grew by accretion with it’s small makeshift kitchen built out of bricks. While small in nature, the kitchen fed many mouths over a few generations, and as much as the current owners wanted to update and enlarge the space to be more functional,  the concern was that it would be taken too far…not feeling like it did way back when.  By deconstructing the kitchen and re-using parts and pieces, the space grew just enough to work for the flow of a family of six, while having it still feel like “dad’s house”.
