“We used Harvest Architecture for a remodel/push out on our 1906 Craftsman from 2016-2017. Originally our kitchen was 5 rooms which we wanted to convert to one and add a patio. After looking at our house, which had a U-shaped flow, Lisa recommended that we actually expand the living room a bit, creating an O shape flow. It did add money, but her foresight was fantastic and I can’t imagine the house without that. With 5 of us and a dog living here, we didn’t even realize we had flow issues until we had the new flow! Now we have an amazing kitchen, fabulous patio and a great family room. Lisa’s forte is Historic houses. She has such a wealth of knowledge about how they were built due to the many she has worked on throughout her career. South Pasadena is really picky about what you can and can not change on an historic house. She was able to prove to them things weren’t historic (an old window they questioned), and also give suggestions that ultimately and easily placated the city. She was also a pro at going to bat for us in all city related issues- and we had plenty. She realized that we were in a hurry to get the project done, so didn’t hesitate to try to solve issues between official meetings. This was a huge help because otherwise we would have had to wait an entire month to get a small change approved. We would definitely use Harvest again. “I highly recommend Harvest Architecture. Working with Lisa was a real pleasure, and we had a long complicated project. She is an incredibly talented designer, who is able to take her clients wishes, and make them a reality. We remodeled a 1937 house with a lot of character. It was important to us to keep the exterior looking historic, while using some modern materials in the interior, as well as creating spaces more conducive to the way our family lives. Lisa created a stunning kitchen, and an amazing master suite. She also worked out some tricky space issues, and really created something that we're very proud of. She consulted on everything from plumbing fixtures to paint colors. She was also on site constantly, and worked with amazing craftsmen, making sure that everything was first class. I look forward to working with Lisa again in the future, and can't say enough good things about her work. “

“I met Lisa through a mutual friend/client in early 2003. As time passed, through the construction industry we would hear of each other’s endeavors which cultivated a mutual respect for the others prospective talents. Lisa reputation was and is highly regarded by everyone I meet who knows her and/or has utilized her services. In late 2005 Lisa called my office to bid on one of her projects. Out of four bidders I got the job. I saw Grueter Construction and Harvest Architecture worked together well. In 2008 I asked Lisa to do a project for one of my clients and they were very happy with Lisa. As a contractor, I am very pleased with the clarity and attention to detail in plans from Harvest Architecture. Clients report to me that their reason for using Harvest Architecture is Lisa’s “client first" attitude and her ability to renovate homes giving them the amenities of the 21st century while preserving the architecture, craftsmanship, and feel of early 20th century living”. Harvest Architecture does many projects around town now days and I am proud to be one of, some four plus, contractors Lisa endorses. Lisa is personable, professional, and highly talented.”

“I hired Harvest Architecture for an extensive kitchen remodel in my 1920s home. Lisa Henderson and her team did a fantastic job. Lisa listened very closely to what my husband and I had to say about our vision for the kitchen. She approached the project in a thoughtful and creative manner, never losing sight of our aesthetic and functional goals. She was sensitive to our budgetary constraints, and offered up solutions to maximize our goals while staying within budget. As problems arose (as they often do in any remodel), Lisa showed unwavering professionalism, responsiveness, and a keen ability for creative problem-solving. The result: a beautiful kitchen with modern functionality, that is in keeping with the older style architecture of our home. The design is seamless. It's now been over two years since completion of the project, and we are still thrilled with the result. It has improved the quality of our lives immensely. I would absolutely use Harvest Architecture again.”

“Lisa-

We wanted to drop you a note to say thank you. It was truly a pleasure to work with you throughout the process. Much like a marriage or a pregnancy, it definitely had its “for better and for worse” as well as its first, second and third trimester in terms of discomfort and joys. You were wonderful through it all: solution oriented, up beat, fully accountable, confident, unflappable and fun. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner.

And the design is amazing. We love this house. We have only been in it a few weeks and are still discovering why we love it. So far, Curt loves the kitchen island to sit when we are talking (which is invariably by the sink for some reason), the built-in in the master and the lighting in the dining room. Mary loves the hidden trashcans in the kitchen, the amazing bathtub and the comfy family room. Tate loves her room, running around the circular flow and her very own bathtub. Eden loves climbing on the dishwasher door when it is open and taking things out of the pantry. And yes, Parkway loves her cat box. Curt had to compromise a bit and nail open the swinging door; but otherwise it is perfect. We all love the view we never realized we had! From the living room you can see straight to downtown. It was always there, but we weren’t set up to enjoy it. Who knew.

Last weekend we looked through the inspiration binder we gave you and the letter we wrote about what we wanted. It was quite astonishing. We got everything we wanted and more — down to the edge on the counter tops and the size of the medicine cabinets. And we managed to get the right house for us and still keep true to the 1926 origins. You are a phenomenal listener and diviner of what is essential.

Thanks again Lisa.”

“We have used Lisa Henderson at Harvest Architecture for the last year and a half to design the remodel and renovation of our 100 year-old house, and we truly count ourselves lucky to be working with her and her firm. Lisa has a special eye as an architect. She is able to match the classic style of our house while updating it considerably. She is respectful of the lines and symmetry of our old house, but at the same time has designed a much more 'liveable' space. When we were creating the original design, Lisa brought up really good issues about functionality for our family that we had not even considered. As a mom herself she could really visualize how we would use the various spaces from the large spaces right down to drawer sizes. Her staff is hard working and polite, and very accommodating to our family's crazy schedule. As is the norm for all projects like this, it has taken considerably longer than we anticipated, but she has been with us throughout the entire process, and will be until the end. We can't wait to show off the finished product soon!”
